How To Make Low Carb Keto Baked Apple Turnover
Place the mozzarella
and cream cheese into a microwave safe bowl, and heat at 30 second intervals until the cheeses are melted and able to be completely combined into a dough.
Add the almond flour
Swerve confectioners sugar substitute
baking powder
vanilla extract to the bowl with the cheese dough, and knead with your hands until well incorporated.
Place the dough and an egg into a mixing bowl, and beat on high until smooth.
Put the dough into the freezer to chill for 30 minutes.
Once chilled, remove the dough and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
While the dough is chilling, add the butter to a skillet over medium heat on the stove.
Once melted, add the Swerve brown sugar substitute to the skillet, and stir until combined.
Place the chopped zucchini into the skillet, and stir to coat it well in the mixture.
Cook the zucchini for 3-5 minutes until it begins to become tender.
Break the chilled dough into 5 even sections.
With your hands, flatten each section into an oval or round shape.
Place them onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
Place a bit of the filling into the center of each dough section, and fold one end over the other to form a turnover or pocket.
Press the edges of each turnover closed so that they seal.
Use a sharp knife to carefully cut three slits into the top layer of dough on each turnover.
Bake the turnovers for 20-25 minutes until browned and completely cooked through.
